Sunbeams Preschool Class

The preschool class for 3-5 year olds
Taught by Amanda Honeycutt
Classroom is located in the Main Building across the hall from the Nursery

Kindergarten through 4th Grade:

At Sand Springs Methodist Church the rotation model is used for Kindergarten through 4th Grade Sunday School.  Rotational Sunday school concept teaches major Bible stories and concepts through kid-friendly multimedia workshops: an Art workshop, Drama, Music, Games, Video, Puppets, Storytelling, or other educational media are the usual workshops.  The same Bible story is taught in the workshops for four or five weeks rotating the kids to a different workshop each week.  Rotation Sunday school is extremely teacher-friendly: the same teacher teaches the same lesson week after week (with some age appropriate adjustments) to each new class coming in.

Encounter

Encounter is our group for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students.
This exciting class provides a wonderful transition from children’s Sunday school into our Junior High Student Program.
The two grades meet together much of the time and time is set aside for 6th grade students to prepare for Confirmation.  Students entering the 7th grade then move into our wonderful Youth Program: “The Awakening”.

Children’s Music Program

This group consists of Kindergarten through 6th graders. We meet every Sunday morning from 9:00 to 9:30.  We sing a variety of music, from contemporary to traditional and spend time at each rehearsal just praising God. Kingdom Kids participates in the annual Christmas Program.  We also perform at church services every month or so.

Small Group Ministries

You can call it “Sunday school” or you can call it “Small Group Ministry” or you can call it just plain fun and learning.  Whatever you call it, this is where our Christian education really happens with other people who, like you, want to know more about God and God’s plans for our lives.  This is the place where we ask questions and seek answers together.  This is where you get the chance to meet other people who have the same questions you have.  Join us for a group this Sunday morning or ask us about starting a new group on a day and at a place convenient for you.

CIA/Pathfinders

The Christians in Action Class and the Pathfinders Class joined together to become one class.  Our Mission: Christians on a Pathway of Action to Become Better Disciples for Christ.  The class meets in the Education Wing on the main level.

Class Format: Open discussion with a very relaxed atmosphere.  Class discussion is lead by a class member with everyone participating.  We use a revolving curriculum from sociological issues to straight Bible Studies, typical series last about 3-4 months.

Diversity: We have a very mixed religious background of members which gives us a lot of diversity in opinions and ideas.   Our unofficial motto is “We agree to disagree”.

Age group: Open to all.  New and seasoned Christians all striving to broaden our knowledge and our service to Christ.  We would welcome anyone of any age group that wishes to become a part of our group.

Our Goal: To “Keep an Attitude of Gratitude” and to help the Sand Springs Methodist Family grow while providing Christian mission services to those in need in our community.

Discovery

The Discovery Class includes women from a variety of age groups and we welcome everyone.
Our curriculum has been more contemporary in nature but the class dictates the studies.
The class currently meets in the small classroom across from the Sanctuary West entrance
We look forward to having you join us.

Harmony

We study the Bible and Bible-Based lessons to encourage our faith in God.
We use the discussion method to apply the scripture to our lives. We also use the Adult Bible Studies of the Methodist Church which bases lessons on scripture. We have a very lively discussion of what the scripture means for us in our lives today.
We have both singles and married persons in our class. We have socials every few months to get further acquainted and to grow our love and respect for each other.
We welcome visitors and new members to our class.
Harmony meets at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings in their classroom on the main level.

Noah

A 30’s and up, couples and singles class, most with children.
The class is taught by various teachers in rotation.

The Noah Class meets at the west end of Fellowship Hall

Summit

For the 18-35-year-old crowd. They gather each week in a member’s home to share potluck dinner, prayers, study, and mission. For more information, contact Cameron Duran at cameron.k.duran@gmail.com or submit the contact form below. We look forward to seeing you with this vibrant group of young adults.

“Summit” implies a challenging journey toward a lofty goal. Most people do not undertake such a climb all alone; they seek out others who share the same goal and they work together to make the climb.

“Summit” – Join the climb!

TNT

TNT is taught by Kay Woodward and is a Senior’s Class that started out many years ago as “Twenties Not Thirties’”.  This class follows the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies quarterly curriculum.  They meet in the Church Parlor at 10:00 AM on Sundays.
